On our first night in Crete we had a disastrous meal nearby, and were lucky to discover this Taverna on our second night. So, from the 11th June until the 23rd June 2008 we ate nearly every night at this Taverna. We soon got into the habit of discussing what we would have the next night with IOANNIS, and sample that delight the next night. I am sure IOANNIS will remember me because I had a simple soup every night, and my wife drank Ouzoe and Gin and Tonic, while I drank just Tonic.
We were able to watch Euro 2008 on the television when it was on, and were soon on nodding acquaintance with the regulars who also made us feel welcome.
Our heartfelt (and stomach-felt !) thanks go to IOANNIS, his wife, and his mother for allowing us to sample simple Cretan dishes, home cooked by order, and still remembered and to be remembered long after their consumption !
I should add that IOANNIS spoke very good English and very good German that I know of.
